Professional packing supplies for your move, delivered free with your move
You can’t underestimate the preparation process, so you need to take care of packing materials in advance. Anyone has a lot of fragile, small and valuable things in the house, which can spoil on the road if they are not carefully placed in boxes. Packing materials have been invented to ensure that all possessions get to their new location safely and securely.
Types of Packing Materials for Moving
Boxes of different sizes are the most popular type of packaging. They can hold many things, from outerwear to dishes. Boxes come in different sizes and densities. For example, in the closet boxes you can put only light things: textiles, toys, voluminous clothing. These boxes even have special crossbars, so things do not crumple. And the boxes, made of thick cardboard, can easily withstand the weight of books and dishes.

Unpacking After a Move: Tips from Local Movers
Okay, so you’ve made the big move. And you are in a new place surrounded by tons of boxes and wondering where to start. Moving is not only about packing, it’s also about arranging a functional and cozy space. Let’s dive into the art of unpacking.
First, prepare to unpack and get your space ready.
- House Tour. Take a walk around your new place. Imagine where you want things to go. Which room will be the living room? Where’s the best spot for the coffee maker? Getting the lay of the land will make everything easier.
- Choose a Space to Store Boxes. Choose a separate space in each room where to store the boxes, so that they are out of your way.
- Do Some Cleaning before Unpacking.Clean a bit of an area where you are going to unpack your boxes. Dust is accumulating really fast. Be sure the area is clean enough and you can place your things there. This way, you’re not tripping over stuff or shuffling things around later.
- Tools On Hand. A pair of scissors or a box cutter will be super handy. You might also want a notebook and pen to jot down any notes.
You did pack an “essential box” or “open first box”, right? This box is your survival kit for the first day or two:
- Why It’s a Lifesaver. It’s got everything you need to get by until everything else is unpacked: toiletries, some clothes, chargers, and maybe some snacks.
- Getting Settled. Start by unpacking this. You’ll want to freshen up, charge your phone, and maybe even make a quick meal.
Use approach of Systematic Unpacking and don’t rush. Tackle one room at a time.
- Where to Start. The kitchen is a good place. You’ll want to eat anyway. After that, the bathroom (because, well, you know) and bedrooms for a good night’s rest.
- Try to keep the boxes away from at least one common area like the living room. or just the boxes in the corner so that you can feel more at home and have at least one place to relax free of clutter.
- Save the Extras and Fragiles. That beautiful vase or wall art can wait, get the basics sorted first and then proceed to the decorating tasks.
- A Place for Everything. Before pulling stuff out of a box, decide where it’s going. It’ll save you from moving it multiple times.
- Store the Seasonal Items. Use higher shelves and bins to store the seasonal items. You might also check with your moving company if they have storage and can take some of the seasonal boxes to their storage facility at the same time as moving. Ask them for discounts, moving companies are often running seasonal promotions like first month free.
Dealing with the Leftovers
You’ll have a mountain of boxes and packing material when you’re done:
Reuse or Recycle. If some boxes are in good shape, store them for future use. For the rest, check with your friends if they need them, or recycle.
Ask your moving company will the movers dispose and recycle the boxes left after your move.
Bubble wrap and the like can often be dropped off at shipping stores for reuse or check local recycling options.
How long does it take to finish unpacking and make your space functional?
It is ok to unpack and organize your home at your own pace. It can take weeks and even several months before you feel like home and find a good place to hang those pictures. everything is in its place.
Unpacking is often a difficult task, but if you have a plan and patience, your new place will start feeling like home very fast. Remember, it’s not just about taking things out of boxes; it’s about starting fresh and making new memories.
